World No. 9 Diego Schwartzman took on the qualifier Aslan Karatsev in the 3rd round of the Australian Open. It was their first-ever meeting, and it was the underdog that caused an impact in the match, showing no signs of nervousness. The Russian player beat his Argentine opponent 6-3 6-3 6-3. The match began with the Russian serving, who held his opening service game firmly. In the first game, Diego served, Karatsev broke him and took control of the opening set. During the initial stages, Aslan served brilliantly and hit 13 winners past his opponent as compared to Diego’s one. The Russian player’s speed of service was superior to the Argentine’s and sealed the set 6-3. Similar to the previous set, the Russian hit blew 20 winners past Schwartzman and took the set 6-3.  The Russian began serving in set 3 and was broken in the 1st game. Diego sensed an opportunity to come back into the match. However, the Russian had other plans and won the next 3 games in a row, breaking Schwartzman twice. In the 7th game of the set, Diego fought hard to break Karatsev, but the Russian found a way to hold his serve. Aslan won the set 6-3.
